Common History and Culture - Bridge across borders

The project aims at preservation, presentation and popularization of the Urban Lifestyle Heritage from the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century in the Cross-border region. Local people and the potential tourists are not aware of our rich cultural heritage. The project will provide for the development of this tourism niche by three major types of activities: (1) restauration and conservation of two cultural monuments, which aim to present the urban lifestyle during the last century in the CBC region, especially in Dupnitsa and Kumanovo - the former Hotel “Solun” in Kumanovo and the Old District Hall Building in Dupnitsa; (2) development of a modern communication channel through creation of a virtual museum of the old urban lifestyle heritage in the CBC region. It will be interactive and it will allow local people to upload and present their pieces of information about the urban life in Kumanovo and Dupnitsa during the last century; (3) capacity development of local stakeholders engaged in cultural tourism through studies and trainings; (4) raising awareness of our cultural heritage through attractive promotional campaigns: the festival of the urban lifestyle heritage. The following results will be achieved as a result of the project: Conserve the building of the former Hotel Solun as a cultural monument; Fully equipped and furnished building of the former Hotel Solun; Conservation of the Old District Hall building in Dupnitsa and the construction of additional premises in order to secure its function as a Cultural Institute with a stockpile, laboratory and exhibit hall for the old urban lifestyle in the CBC region; Conducted study on modern marketing practices for popularization of Old Urban Lifestyle heritage; Marketing strategy for promotion of Old Urban Lifestyle heritage tourism in the CBC region. An organized festival of Old Urban Lifestyle Heritage in Kumanovo; Creation of a virtual museum of the old urban lifestyle heritage in the CBC region with emphasis on Kumanovo and Dupnitsa.
