Project summary:
The overall aim of the project is to contribute to the sustainable development of the BG-RS border region and its improved image by stimulating the harnessing of its untapped potential for nature tourism. The major results achived by the project are: - Increased tourist attractiveness of the nature assets in the cross-border region throught the digitization of 100+ natural sites and a data base of nature tourism product and service providers; - Increased tourism visibility of the natural attractions in the cross-border region by promoting them as a joint tourist destination via a single three-lingual web site applying an innovative digitization toolkit; - Improved potential for supply of quality images for tourism advertizing purposes by establishing a cross-border Nature Photographer Club and upgrading the skills of its young members; - Raised awareness of the local population and particularly of young people regarding the value and significance of the common natural heritage in the cross-border region through photo exhibitions, cross-border demonstrational and photo tours, a cross-border Digital Nature Fair, a cross-border Digital Nature Festival, as well as by extensive media coverage of the project activities and messages via 4 press conferences, 8 types of promotional materias; numerous TV and radio broadcasts, publications in newspapers and in electronic media; - Close contacts and relations of friendship established among the amateur photographers and between the partner organizations from the two neighbouring countries.
