Green kindergartens for sustainable future (Green kindergartens)

The aim of the project was environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources in the cross-border region, through investments in "green" infrastructure and education in the field of energy efficiency, and in particular for pre-school children and kindergartens. The project focused on small-scale investments in EE and RES in kindergarten buildings, located in Strumica and Kyustendil, and turning them into "green" places, that protect the environment and save money on electricity. Reconstruction and equipment of "green" classrooms in 5 kindergartens in Strumica and 3 kindergartens in Kyustendil with technology of 8 smart boards were applied, allowing interactive presentations with 8 LCD projectors and 8 laptops. "Green" playgrounds were built in the yards of 3 kindergartens: "Pyrvi Juny" and "Zornitsa" in Kyustendil and an affiliate kindergarten in Sovolyano village, Municipality of Kyustendil. Capacity building Program and Joint handbook “Going green” for kindergarten teachers were developed and implemented; ecological trainings were conducted for the employees in the kindergartens and for parents. A cross-border network for cooperation between teachers and parents has been set up.
